The Bioindustrial Manufacturing And Design Ecosystem, or BioMADE, is a U.S. Department of Defense Manufacturing Innovation Institute established by the Engineering Biology Research Consortium in April 2021. BioMADE projects encourage the commercialization of biotechnologies, secure the bioindustrial supply chain, and support workforce development as part of its mission to build a sustainable, domestic end-to-end bioindustrial manufacturing ecosystem (Yahoo Finance).
Since launching in April of 2021, BioMade has already grown to over 150 members including organizations from industry, academia, community and technical schools, and non-profits. The number of venture capital members reflects a level of interest and financial investment in building a biomanufacturing ecosystem. As of September 2022, the lone “venture capital” member is First Bight, a fund dedicated to supporting synthetic biology startups that joined in June of 2022.
A full list of members is available on the BioMADE Members page, and new members are announced monthly on the News & Updates page. This question will resolve using the list of Members page on the date that the June members are announced, typically late June or early July.
