Noting that the Catalog linked in the question details hasn't been updated since Feb 1st.

I took a look at the raw data from NASA again today, and it only shows 18 planets (of any type, not just habitable) discovered so far in 2024. About half by TESS. Not sure when this data was last updated either though!

Not changing my forecast at this point, but I'm beginning to suspect that getting up to date data may be tricky for this question - and it actually may be an issue in terms of closing the question at the end of this year (i.e. if the catalog doesn't get updated for some time into 2025).

Slightly off-topic, but this Youtube video on planetary formation (with cameo from JWST) may be of interest to people following this question.

Yes, I too think that we should be concerned about the possibility of no frequent updates of our resolution source.

The current indication of "Last Update February 1, 2024" may lure one to believe that roughly monthly updates are to be expected, progress or not; but this is not necessarily the case. And from what @PeterStamp and I have reported below, it seems that this last update (after the previous one of Jan 8) may have become necessary only because 2 new planets were to be added to the lists, and not because of any ~monthly update schedule.

Still, too few data to say for sure...
